I The Rubens nascono nel 2011 a Menangle, nello stato Australiano del New South Wales, dall’unione dei fratelli Sam Margin (voce/chitarra), Zaac Margin (chitarra) ed Elliott Margin (tastiere/voce), e dall'amico di lunga data Scott Baldwin (batteria). Nel 2012 pubblicano il loro album di debutto The Rubens, che viene certificato disco di platino e ottiene una nomination ai J Award come Album of the Year, a cui segue nel 2015 con il loro secondo album, Hoops, contenente il singolo Hallelujah.
