Nel 2011 pubblica il suo album di debutto Vows, uscito in Australia e reso pubblico nel resto del mondo l’anno successivo.
L’Album viene certificato disco di platino in Australia e in nuova Zelanda.
Nel novembre 2012 Kimbra viene nominata all’evento annuale dei New Zealand Music Awards trionfando in ben 5 categorie: Album dell'anno per Vows, Miglior Artista Femminile, Rivelazione dell'Anno, Miglior Album Pop per Vows, Premio per il Successo Internazionale.
Lo stesso anno riceve un premio come Miglior Artista Femminile agli Aria Music Awards.
The Golden Echo è il secondo album di Kimbra, pubblicato nel 2014, che vede la collaborazione di importanti artisti tra cui Matt Bellamy e John Legend.
Il 20 aprile 2018 viene pubblicato il suo terzo album Primal Heart, contenente i singoli Everybody Knows, Top of the World in collaborazione con Skrillex, Human, Version of Me e Like They Do on the TV.
