A soli pochi passi da Piazza Farnese, Palazzo Spada-Capodiferro esibisce una delle più belle facciate del Cinquecento romano, con una suggestiva sequenza di grandi statue in stucco che rappresentano eroi e imperatori romani; ugualmente ricco di decorazioni mitologiche è l'elegantissimo Cortile rinascimentale, mentre nelle quattro Sale della Galleria al primo piano si ammira la famosa collezione di pittura barocca creata dai cardinali Bernardino (1594-1661) e Fabrizio Spada (1643-1717).
An interesting collection of artwork, but the real highlight was the forced perspective gallery in the secret garden. Our guide for this was hugely knowledgeable and her company was a delight!

The Spada is a lovely small mansion with decorative, airy rooms. Worth seeing: Titian’s portrait of a Musician, Jan Breughel’ Windmills, beautifully accomplished grisailles frieze bands under the ceilings. Best of all, in an inner courtyard planted with orange trees is a trompe l’oeil corridor constructed by the Baroque architect, Borromini. It appears that one is looking down a vast corridor toward a tall statue at its end. In fact the corridor is only 9 meters long , the statue 9 centimeter...

Leffetto ottico della prospettiva del Bernini è assolutamente da vedere dal vivo.
In più, compreso nel prezzo cè la galleria Spada con molte opere darte, tra cui alcuni quadri di Tiziano. Tutte le opere sono disposte in quattro stanze con arredamenti dellepoca (XVI - XVII sec.)
