La band fu attiva tra il 2001 e il 2005 con la formazione Bourne/Willis/Simpson. Nel 2013 Bourne e Willis ripresero l'attività insieme ai McFly con il nome di McBusted, mentre nel 2015 Simpson si è riunito alla band, riportandola alla formazione originale.
Hanno registrato due album in studio, Busted (2002) e A Present for Everyone (2003), una compilation e un album live. Tra i numerosi premi vinti dalla band ci sono due Brit Awards e Record of the Year nel 2004 con il singolo "Thunderbirds Are Go".
