Accessibility
The Cathedral is accessible from the parvis thanks to two side ramps with handrails and a maximum gradient of 8%. The central nave as well as the side naves are wide and easily accessible, while the Ferial Chapel, the Baptistery of Saint Stephen and the Crypt of Saint Charles are not easy to reach due to the presence of stairs.
The Baptistery of San Giovanni alle Fonte is accessible for people with motor disabilities by taking the lift that leads down to the Metro, located in Piazza Duomo on the corner of via Pellico. Once the lift (88x165x147cm) has been taken, it is necessary to go to the basement, exit and turn left, go past the ATM Point (Milan Transport Company) and upon arriving at the Metro turnstiles, do not enter, but turn right and right again.
Having arrived at the entrance to the Baptistery, there is a doorbell with a videophone 115cm high where the Cathedral personnel can be alerted.
Access to the Rooftops with wheelchairs is only possible as far as the lower rooftop (limited to the area behind the choir). This service is available every day from 10am to 5pm exclusively by the South Lift (77x106x130cm). Should the South Lift be out of order, the North Lift (65x111x137cm) will be used instead.
