Castello Sforzesco, one of the most important monuments in Milan, had various architectural handlings, brutal demolitions, reconstructions, embellishments and renovations, becoming a symbol of the history of the city.
The majestic Castle, along with Duomo, is the monument that Milan loves the most. For centuries it’s been victim of critical events, being the outrageous sign of the power of the Lords of Milan or the foreign rulers. Only in the 20th century it becomes a culture place, where to find testimonies of the Lombard art. Its name brings back to the XV century , at the time of Francesco Sforza, who wanted to rebuild it starting 1450, but the foundation of the Castle is more ancient: it was built for want of Galeazzo II Visconti in the second half of the 14th century.
