Dopo essersi fatti conoscere grazie ad alcune performance live (dove usavano anche tastiere Casio e karaoke della Fisher-Price), nel 2007 firmano per l'etichetta ATP (All Tomorrow's Parties) e l'anno dopo pubblicano il loro primo album STREET HORRRSING, prodotto da John Cumming dei Mogwai e masterizzato da Bob Weston degli Shellac. Proprio con la band scozzese i Fuck Buttons viaggiano in tour per Usa, Gran Bretagna e Canada. Nell'autunno del 2009 arriva il secondo disco TAROT SPORT, lavoro prodotto dal DJ inglese Andrew Weatherall, un incontro tra post-rock ed elettronica ballabile, in bilico tra Mogwai e Underworld.
